Cool downtown pubs

Hi, all. I'm going to be in Winnipeg for work for a couple days. Evenings will be free, but it'll be Monday and Tuesday. Any cool downtown pubs to sit at the bar, have a pint of draft and maybe catch a set of live music, without a lot of hullabaloo? Ideally they'll also be showing MNF on the tube.

I've never been to Winnipeg, so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Kingshead is one of the best pubs in town with great atmosphere - staff, food, etc. Also one of the safest places as it's right across from police headquarters.

You could also check out Shannon's Irish Pub on Carlton St by the Convention Centre.

Tavern United by the MTS Centre is another great place.

Not far from downtown is Toad in the Hole in Osborne Village. ($7 cab ride)

- Shannon's Irish Pub (between Delta and Convention Centre) is comfy with good live acts

- Elephant & Castle (on St Mary in the Delta) has amazing food

- Kings Head (on King, by the Red River College) is busy with a younger crowd, nothing beats a walk thru the Exchange

There's also Tavern United next to the MTS Centre but I wouldn't call it a "cool pub"
