July 4th, 2014?

In planning our Seattle>Victoria>Vancouver trip for next summer we can use our miles to fly home from YVR on July 11th.

In planning the itinerary around this flight that would put us in Seattle July 2 to July 5 (the US Independence Day weekend).............any downside you can think of???? things closed?

It would also have us leave on the Clipper for a two night stay in Victoria on Saturday July 5th. Again any downside going to Victoria on the weekend? more crowded?

If this is not an ideal time to be in Seattle/Victoria we'll just push the trip to later in July.

Thanks

Karen

While in Victoria get a BC transit day pass only $5. You can take the bus to Sidney. That is what I do park the car while there as Victoria traffic is crazy. You can use the transit planner to take you to various restaurants.

I did that before and will again in October

Thanks....We actually moved our trip a week so we will be in Victoria July 10-12 instead of July 4th. We made hotel reservations and were planning to rent a car for the one full Victoria day. Thought that would get us an early jump on Butchart Gardens and give us the afternoon to explore a little including Sidney.

Is renting a car a good idea or is public transportation a better option? I'm not worried about a little traffic.....we live close to NYC so traffic is a way of life!

The traffic in and around Victoria is like a small herd of pedicabs driving casually through Central Park. :-) Rush hour will be a mildly larger herd. The only exception will be the "Colwood Crawl" which is Hwy 1 between Victoria and about Goldstream Provincial Park. That can be problematic, toward Victoria in the morning rush and out of Victoria in the afternoon rush.
