seattle to victoria by ferry with a car

Is there ferry service from Seattle to Victoria that you can bring a car on?

Where would you depart from and how far of a drive is it from Seattle airport to ferry?

How long of a trip would this be in total?

Thank you in advance.

Not directly from Seattle. You can take this route and take the ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria. Map link: http://goo.gl/maps/IhLN1

It's about a 2.5 hour trip from Seatac to Port Angeles. The total trip depending on how you time the ferries will be about 5 hours.

Port Angeles is one ferry to Victoria: www.cohoferry.com . You could also take the WA State ferry across to Bainbridge Island and over to Port Angeles from there. The following map will show you the difference from the first map in post 1. Just another choice.

Anacortes, 2 hours drive north of Seattle is a second ferry and would take you through the San Juan Islands: http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/

Route map: http://goo.gl/maps/6VDBu

Another route would be to drive north on the I5 to cross the border at Blaine WA, then turn west to Tsawwassen ferry terminal for the BC Ferry to Swartz Bay and then down to Victoria.

www.bcferries.com

Route map: http://goo.gl/maps/hYU32

You can zoom those maps in to see details and quite a bit in to find highway numbers and highway exit numbers. The driving times and distances will be in the left sidebars.

Check all ferry schedules! The American ferries are not the most frequent, the BC Ferries runs every 2 hours with additional sailings in between until the end of June, then every hour for the summer. No idea when you are coming, so check the schedules carefully for your dates.

The BC ferries from Tsawassen to Swartz Bay give you a lot more options. From now until June 25, they have 14 daily crossings each way from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Each ferry can carry up to 2,100 passengers and 470 vehicles. In one day, that's total of 29,400 passengers and 6,580 vehicles each way.

From Port Angeles to Victoria: 4 crossings each way each day. Carries up to 1,000 passengers and 110 vehicles, or a maximum of 4,000 passengers and 440 vehicles.

From Anacortes to Sidney: 2 crossings each way each day. Carries up to 2,500 passengers and 202 vehicles, or a daily maximum of 5,000 passengers and 404 vehicles.

And that's why we use the BC Ferries on almost all of our trips to Victoria. We have NEVER had to wait for another ferry because we couldn't get on the next one to leave. A couple times we were there at 10 minutes to departure and still got on.

After June 25, the BC Ferries add 3 more each way, starting at 6 a.m. and ending at 10 p.m., adding another at 8 p.m. to fill the pre-June 25 2-hour gap from 7 to 9 p.m.

Info from their official websites.
