Whale Watching with Oak Bay Beach Hotel

We've booked a room at Oak Bay Beach Hotel and signed up for a whale watching trip to go along with it. Has anyone done this? Was it good, or would we be better off to find a separate whale watching trip instead of a package deal? Thanks.

I haven't been to the Oak Bay Hotel, but I do know that all whale watching companies end up in the same place to see the whales, so it really doesn't matter as much who you go with. You are literally next to the other whale watching boats when you arrive at the whales. What does matter, in my opinion, is the type of boat you go on. Some are open zodiaks (which are the most exciting), others are closed zodiaks (just as stable but slower). Some companies use yachts, others use fishing boats. Some boats have 2 floors of viewing decks while others are completely outdoor and require that you stay seated.

Of course, some companies are more expensive than others.

I'm sure the whale watching company with the Oak Bay Beach Hotel is fine.
