We are travelling to visit relatives in Vancouver for two weeks at the end of March. We have two children 4 and 7. Any ideas for places to visit? We would also like to take a road trip for a couple of days ideally travelling a few hours away from Vancouver. Any destinations greatly appreciated?

The kids can play in the snow at Whistler.

End of March is a difficult time weather wise, but as noted, some snow activities should still be possible in the mountains, so pack for that.

As to a road trip, if you don't mind the ferry costs, then I'd look at Vancouver Island at that time of year. If you want to avoid the ferry, you could look at Whidbey Island in Washington State. These areas tend to have warmer, dryer weather in the shoulder season. Or do a ski trip to the interior mountains -- Big White, Silver Star.

Keep in mind that is also Spring Break for the schools here, so things will be busy. However, you could look into a Spring Break Camp for the kids.
