Hi dancer ::

You would be downtown! I guess if you wanted to get particular and walk to the "I'll meet you under the Birks' clock" corner at Granville and Georgia of back-in-the-day fame, it would be about a 800 metres. But that's only one corner in the downtown area. The length of the downtown area is about 2 km and the width is about 1.t km wide.

Here's the map:

Here's a map of the length and width of downtown Vancouver:

Public transit is easy and convenient. If you need transit help to go to other places or walking maps like the one above, don't hesitate to ask.

The website for trip planning is here: www.translink.ca

BTW, neither the Birks' clock nor Birks is there any more. It's a London Drugs store now.

You're staying in the heart of downtown. Yes, buses go by, but it's not necessary - you can walk everywhere downtown.

If for some reason you do want to hop on a bus, be aware that you need the exact amount in coin to pay for the bus. The driver does not touch the money, it goes into a slot in the top of a "container" of sorts. You get a transfer and there will be a time stamped onto it. That ticket is good until the time runs out. You do not have to pay each time you get on a bus if the time has not run out, about one and a half hours.
