Trip from Seattle to Vancouver Question

My family and I are flying into Seattle and returning home from Vancouver BC for our Summer vacation. We would like to go inland a little for a stopover somewhere interesting (including overnight). We were wondering if anyone has any recommenations for one or two or three stops along the way. Our children are 12 and 15 and we only have 10 days. The kids are pretty adaptable, ie wine country tours, museums etc. Thank you very much.

Okay, look at a map and find Wenatchee Washington. Head north and you will see Kelowna. There is a huge lake Okanagon which is very nice with lots to do. The whole area is surrounded by wineries and fun for a few days. Heading east from Seattle will show you different scenery and the weather is always warmer than the coast. From there its an easy drive to Vancouver.

hi.. from Seattle, heading northbound to Vancouver, B.C., off I5, there will be a turn-off for Rte#11 and/or Chuckanut Drive (just south of Bellingham, WA). The scenic route follows the shores of Lake Samish and there is a few restaurants along the way, including an oyster bar restaurant. Further down, there is Fairhaven, a restored historical old town. Also, in the area, Larabee State Park is a good place for a picnic. Bellingham is about 1.25 hours north of Seattle.

I suggest you go catch a ferry and spend one night in Victoria BC...Victoria is the capital of British Columbia, and should not be missed (very good museums). You can catch a ferry from Seattle to Victoria.....then take the ferry from Victoria to Vancouver.

About "stop" on the way to Vancouver....there's really not much between the 2.5 hours drive from Seattle to Vancouver....you might want to spend a night or 2 in Seattle, and go to the Space Needle, and the Public Market.

Kelowna BC, is about 5 hours East of Vancouver...it offer wine tasting, and you can visit the apple farm.

When will you be in Vancouver?....if you're leaving just before Labour Day...Vancouver has an anual fair for 17 days....Aug 19 to Sept 4.

If you're in Late July to Early Aug..we have an anual Fireworks competion by English Bay.

there is no car ferry from Seattle to Victoria but a walk on only.
