Wineries on Vancouver Island

Ideally, I would like to spend a day or two exploring the vineyards on Vancouver Island. I am looking for advice as to which ports offer access to the most vineyards. I am trying to avoid renting a car and would like to explore the vineyards on bike so it would be nice to find a town that offered access to a few different vineyards. Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.

No doubt you've found http://www.islandwineries.ca/

Nearby Cowichan Bay is central and offers the best variety of accommodation there's a lot of info on the place here in the older posts.

Also http://www.fairburnfarm.bc.ca/ in the valley

It's a lovley area little trafficked by the tourist hordes in nearby Victoria.

Hi there,

I did this winery tour last year and it's beautiful. The towns are small and quaint. Couple things to note, the wineries are not close to each other, they are not always open to the public - some are family run estates and open when they feel like it, it's a mountainous region (but I guess you are used to that in Denver) and it's rains alot here. The wineries on the Gulf Islands are perfect for biking. Regardless of you go by bike or car, start in Victoria and work your way north. There are provincial public parks to pitch a tent or check out B&Bs as there are not many hotels along the route. I enjoyed the trip very much and will definitely do it again. Salut!
