Pleasant Vancouver hotel query

We are 2 couples( late 50's) visiting from Australia for a 5 week driving holiday BC & Alberta.

We plan 3 nights Vancouver on arrival and 3 nights Vancouver prior to departure and would like to stay at the same place, fairly central accomadation, free on site parking, quiet up to CD 110 inc taxes.

Any suggestions welcome, with web site if possible .

thanks

Rooboy,

the hardest part of your needs will be the free onsite parking - especially if you want to stay downtown Vancouver - you won't be able to find it. If free parking is a must you'll have to out into the Suburbs (burnaby, coquitlam, north vancouver) or Airport hotels in Richmond.

All of the major chains are available (Best Western, marriott, hilton, Sheraton) downtown.

However, I would look at the Listel Hotel: http://www.listel-vancouver.com/

or Blue Horizon Hotel: http://www.bluehorizonhotel.com/

both are located in the middle of Robson street and are as central as you can get.

Also there is the Georgian Court at the very south end of Robson street. http://www.georgiancourt.com/

Hope this helps.

Enjoy and Welcome!

Since it appears that you are flying into and from Vancouver, I would suggest that you not book the rental until you are ready to leave Vancouver. Just take a cab or limo (if a lot of luggage) from the airport. In the downtown core, most places can be reached on foot, or by taxi if needed. In many cases, one roundtrip taxi fare won't cost much more than a day's parking. Upon your return to Vancouver, you could decide then if you want to keep the car or turn it in to the rental agency.

You haven't said when you will be arriving in Vancouver. In the summer high-season, 110 CAD inc taxes will be very difficult to find, even outside of the downtown area. The closest to meeting your needs is the YWCA, http://www.ywcahotel.com/explore/rates.html. They do have parking, but it is extra. This is from their FAQ.

Do you have parking available? We have limited parking in a secure, underground lot for hotel guests only. The cost is $8.00 per night, including tax. Parking is allocated on a first arrival basis and cannot be reserved in advance. However, if you arrive and our lot is full, there is ample alternate parking at neighbouring hotels or on street level.

Check out Times Square Hotel. It is more of apartment-type lodging and gets excellent reviews on TA.
