Tofino hotel help!

Hello, I'll be travelling to Tofino for the 1st time in September. We're considering staying at either the Wickaninnish Inn, Long Beach Lodge or Pacific Sands Resort. Any suggestions as to which one we should choose?

Thanking you in advance for your insight!!

It would help to know what you are looking for in a hotel, in order to comment. What things are going to be important to you.

If the weather cooperates, we'll be spending time outside on the water, deck with exceptional views will be a must. Otherwise, we're looking for a nice and clean accomodations, comfortable beds, restaurant or easy access to restaurants and good service. We have never been and are only staying one night maybe two.

All three hotels are on Chesterman or Cox Bay in the resort area near Tofino. Pacific Sands does not have a restaurant but the Long Beach Lodge and Wick do. There are not many other restaurants near this resort area other than the ones mentioned above. Many people travel into to Tofino for dinner.

Personally, of the three, I would choose Pacific Sands. I love their Villas however you would need to ensure you get one at the south end of the complex as the north end ones have an island in front. If you stayed here you could walk next door to the Long Beach Lodge restaurant.

If you prefer an all in one solution then I would choose the Wick as their rooms are nice and the restaurant is excellent.

They're all wonderful resorts offering great ocean and beach views. Both Long Beach Lodge and Pacific Sands are on Cox Bay, as BuccaneerDave mentioned. Pacific Sands is equipped with a kitchen in every suite and offers some pretty mouth-watering local catering options, as well as meals that you can order in advance. A stay at Long Beach Lodge includes daily continental breakfast and their Great Room is a terrific spot for enjoying delicious food while taking in the open ocean views. Cox Bay is known for its excellent waves, so you'll see a lot of surfers in the water. It is also home to the Cox Bay Beach Resort. Cox Bay is about a ten minute drive to town.

The Wickaninnish Inn is located on Chesterman Beach, which is a residential beach dotted with bed & breakfasts and beautiful homes. It is home to The Pointe Restaurant, with breathtaking views and excellent food. The Inn also offers the more casual Driftwood Cafe and room service. The drive from Chesterman Beach to town is around eight minutes.

Hopefully, the feedback you received in this forum helps you in deciding where to stay!

To echo lttt, we also recommend you stay a minimum of two nights in Tofino. There's so much to see and do (beachcombing, hiking, wildlife excursions, flightseeing and more). You'll want to relax after the drive/flight to our remote west coast of Vancouver Island and budget your travelling time appropriately.

Happy planning!
