Water Temp in August

Just wondering if the water temp in mid-August allows for swimming or just quick in/out to cool off?

Thanks

Vancouverites find the local sea water warm enough to enjoy for a good period of time. Kits Pool which is sea water, corralled by a wall, is a favourite. 2nd Beach pool is always busy with happy people.

Summer water temperatures for the English Bay Beaches (Stanley Park, Kits, Spanish Banks) vary from about 16 to 22 degrees C. or 60 to 73 F.

The ocean is a steady temperature all year - 6C last I heard, but with global warming.... What changes is the air temp, so it feels warmer/colder when you get out depending on the season. Also, the beaches at Tofino have rip tides and some big surf and the occasional rogue wave. The surfers do alright, but I don't know that its a great swimming beach. I don't know if there is any swimming on the inland side of the peninsula where the water is more protected.
