where to go in BC

We will be visiting the northwest in August and plan to go to BC for 2-4 days but are unsure on where to spend our time: At first we thought Tofino, but the rain scares us. There we thought about the Sunshine Coast and then Desolation Sound. But we couldn't find much about these areas. We like to hike and kayak and avoid the crowds. We prefer nature over cities. Still, we'd like a nice place to stay and a nice meal. Suggestions?

Unless you have at least 4 days you won't get getting away from any crowds.

http://sevillaislandresort.ca/ in the general area you're thinking of (not Tofino Destination Sound).

I haven't stayed there but have saved some of the recipes the proprietor posts on a fishing forum-he is quite the foodie.

http://www.bigpacific.com for area info.

The Sunshine Coast is much easier to get to, and is famous for its great weather, beaches, scenery, activities, etc. Good choice.

Here is a good website for info about the area, including great maps: www.sunshinecoastcanada.com

And for accommodations: www.bbsunshinecoast.com

August is generally a pretty good month weather wise. Two to four days isn't much - not enough for Tofino unless you are flying there, and also it's probably pretty booked up now.

The closest you can get to Desolation Sound by road is Lund just north of Powell River. Go to www.hellobc.com and in the search type in Desolation Sound. Or anywhere else you'd like to check out!

At any rate, I'd go for the 4 days rather than the two!
