Would appreciate your help with Restaurant Advice

Hi,

I'm looking forward to a trip on the Rocky Mountaineer with my mom (who is 79) in a couple of weeks. On the overnight in Kamloops, we will be staying at the Kamloops Towne Lodge.

After a long day on the train, I would appreciate your suggestions on a restaurant for dinner near the hotel. My mom recently had surgery, so the restaurant will have to be a short walk from the hotel.

I know Ora is right there, but we'd prefer something more casual. Would On the Rocks be a good option? Is Duffy's too far? I would appreciate your advice.

Also, I'd appreciate any feedback on the Kamloops Towne Lodge. I couldn't find many recent reviews, but their website says they are in the process of remodeling?

Thanks for your help!

there are only two restaraunts within a block of your hotel.

Ora is one and the other is "on the Rocks" which is described as a pub. When your on the train all day your eating every two hrs so most people don't look for a huge meal. Something light will most likely tide you over. You also have the option to do a dinner show in Kamloops. Its wonderful food however the show may be a little amatuerish and it costs $80.

Another choice is a very short cab ride (too far to walk) would be White Spot. A BC restaurant with reasonably good food and fair prices.

There is Ric's Grill just down the street - very close - may not be as casual as you'd like, but their food can be counted on. ricsgrill.com - there are 2 in Kamloops - look for the one on Rogers Way.

A very quick cab ride - less than 5 minutes - is Milestone's. More casual than Rics and always very good food. www.milestonesrestaurants.com
