To Dawson: More scenic from Anchorage or from Fairbanks?

Hello,

Planning to drive up to Dawson, Yukon, eiether from Anchorage, or from Fairbanks.

Which route is more secnic? From Anchorage or from Fairbanks?

I know it takes 2-3 hours longer from Anchorage, but, if its more secnic, I would do that..

Pl advise..

Also, any rental car companies, which does allow me to drive me from Alaska into Yukon on gravel (unpaved) highways?

Thanks

Vembar

Hi Chomi

There is bus service between Whitehorse and Skagway

Hope this helps you out with your plans......

Dawson is wonderful, I do recommend a car rental and investing a couple days into going there.......

A flight/tour to Tuk is a 6 hour trip with Arctic Nature Tours - explorenorth.com/library/…inuvik.html - although you can just fly up with Aklak.

There are no trains in the Yukon except from Skagway to Carcross - http://wpyr.com You can get to Skagway by air or ferry from Juneau/Anchorage, then bus or train/bus to Whitehorse (see the WP&YR site) where you can rent a car to Dawson and beyond. You can also get to Dawson by bus from Anchorage - www.explorenorth.com/yukon/bus-truck.html
