2 days in calgary, 1 at stampede, how to spend my other day?

Myself and some friends (all around 30 yrs old) are in calgary for 2 days and nights in July. One day and evening will be spent at the stampede, however id like some tips and help for things to do or see on the other day we are in calgary. we are from the UK. I know about Calgary tower and we shall give that a visit, but any other great things not to be missed? or good places for shopping/bars/resturants? thanks!

Well, it's not that tough to spend two days at the Stampede. In fact, if you're planning on seeing the evening show & chuckwagon races as well as the rodeo, it's best to spread that out over two days so that you can also get a good look at everything else on the grounds.

However, there are lots of other things to do in Calgary & area. Start by having a look at this TripAdvisor Traveller Article, "Calgary Stampede for First-Time Visitors", which lists a lot of things you can do during the Stampede that aren't on the grounds:
