Advance Passenger Information - documents required?

Hi,

Just been on the Air Canada webiste to see if we will need to pay extra air tax on our holiday as this is starting to get a big deal here in the UK. I noticed on the Air Canada website a section called Advance Passenger Information. It say information has to be providedat check in. Is this collected from our passports or do we need to bring seperate IDs for each subject requested? When did the airlines start with this Advance Passenger Information as I dont remember any of this in late 2005?

Thanks in advance

You provide the same information and documents to enter Canada as you did before. The difference is that the airline collects the information and provides it to Canadian authorities before you land in Canada. They claim the system is designed to intercept known terrorists, human smugglers and other criminals. It's explained on this page of Citizenship and Immigration Canada's website:

Actually, if you look at the page of the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website to which I directed you, that page says, "Last Updated: 2004-01-12" (meaning 12th of January, 2004).
