Banff june 26th to29th

First day we plan on going to Lake louise for boat trip. Thinking about lunch at the Fairmont. What else would fill our day while there?

Day 2 we plan to spend in Banff. Nourish sounds great and some of us want to try the gondola, should we do that and havelunch at the top or come down and do Nourish for lunch. Some suggestionsfor the rest of the day. Thanks

Boat trip at Lake Louise? Other than renting a canoe and paddling around the lake (which is not very big), there is no boat trip there. The cruise in Banff National Park is on Minnewanka Lake, which is quite close to the town of Banff. Is this what you mean - http://www.explorerockies.com/minnewanka/ ?

I guess we take the boat trip from Baniff on day 2. The trip to Lake Louise is day one. we need a easy hike that would give us some good picture taking. Do you suggest a trip to Emerald Lake

also. Would it be too much for one day?

Lake Louise and Emerald Lake in one day would be a fabulous day. Of course the length of time you spend at each lake hiking and exploring is up to you. If you were to have lunch at Lake Louise, it would be easy to spend a morning or afternoon walking along the shoreline and exploring the Chateau Lake Louise, with the rest of your day hiking around Emerald Lake. You could also make a quick stop at the Natural Bridge on the road up to Emerald Lake.

If you wanted to include Moraine Lake in your day, you would need to budget about 25 minutes of driving time from Lake Louise (each direction). Of course the more you add to your day, the less time you have at each destination.

As for your lunch question, I would say that your food choices will be much more limited at the top of the gondola. There is a cafeteria to serve you at the top, or you can pack a picnic to enjoy views from the summit. If you have time for Nourish, it is highly recommended!

You can use US dollars in many cases - but since this is offered by the merchant as a convenience for you, don't expect a very favourable exchange rate. As Saskguy points out, it is much better to use Canadian money or your credit card.

You may want to look at this TripAdvisor Traveller Article for more information on banks and money in Canada:

The main differences between Canadian currency and US currency are: Canada has $1 and $2 coins, not bills; the newest Canadian $100 and $50 bills are plastic (but there are lots of old paper ones in circulation too).
