Park Pass

I'm driving from AB to BC and will need to make a quick stop for lunch. Do I need a park pass if I stop in Banff for 45 min?

I could always stop in Canmore, I realize. Any suggestions for a good/inexpensive restaurant? (I have a toddler with me)

If you stop, you will need a pass. And if you happen to be driving all the way to Vancouver, you will be going through a lot of national parks! After Banff, you pass through Yoho NP, Glacier NP (not to be confused with Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, on the Canada-US border), and Mt Revelstoke NP. If you buy a park pass for the day, you can stop in any of those parks to enjoy a viewpoint, a coffee, or a short stroll along a walkway with interpretive signage (such as Giant Cedars in Mt Revelstoke NP). A park pass is valid until 4 pm the following day.

If you did happen to stop in Canmore I would recommend the Harvest Cafe on 10th street downtown. It can be quite busy at lunch time though. It has good hearty food at reasonable prices. It used to be my favorite lunch spot when I worked downtown. The Communitea Cafe is another good place, same street on the opposite side.

Ran out of edit time. Beamers on 7th street in Canmore is also very good.

In Banff there is the Coyote Cafe, or perhaps one of the three Evelyn Cafes and there is now a Tim Horton's by the Brewster Bus station.
