Camping around Lethbridge on our way to Alaska

We are planning a camping trip beginning the second week of June from our home in northern Minnesota to Alaska. We thought we'd camp our first night at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, and then head up Hwy 15 to Banff. From my search on Mapquest, it seems like it would be too big a day of driving to make it all the way to Banff, but getting to a campground somewhere around Lethbridge would be workable. We would appreciate your suggestions for camping in the area around Lethbridge. Thanks so much for your help.

Hi

If you want avoid going into the City of Calgary you can take this route http://goo.gl/maps/Ni6zh with a stop around Cardston or Pincher Creek and then follow #22 north to Cochrane where you have the option of going west on 1A or the Trans Canada #1 a bit north of the City.

this will give you an idea of the type of these secondary roads. http://goo.gl/maps/rFRVM

and for provincial parks albertaparks.ca/albertaparksca/visit-our-par…

If you're interested in taking a slower, more scenic route, you might want to drive the Cowboy Trail: http://www.thecowboytrail.com/
