Latin Dancing at All Inclusive Resort

Planning to take the wife and kids to an all inclusive. Currently thinking Yucatan, Playa del Carmen, Puerto Aventuras, but also considering Dominican Republic and possibly Jamaica. Is anyone aware of an all inclusive that has good latin dancing on location, or nearby. My mother-in-law is coming with us and loves to dance. Not sure beginner lessons, bur real dancing, ideally with some guys who can dance, and are only interested in dancing.

Thanks.

Most resorts have Salsa dancing lessons during the day by the pool, led by the Animation Team. Some have live music in the lobby each evening (Riu Tequila, Cat Riviera Maya, etc) of different styles, but often people at AIs don't dance...they just relax on the sofa with a cocktail while the kiddos run around (grrr!) before/after dinner. We always break the ice, get up & dance, others follow, and the party starts! Of course a nice tip to the musicians will get you Latin music every song (not their version of Billy Joel or Barry Mannilow). Sometimes the Animation Team has "disco duty" and will be on hand to dance. Or tell Mom to grab one of the Team in the lobby & ask to dance.

Some of the discos play Latin music mixed in with American top-40, but it usually opens late at night. And can't speak towards what dancing leads to! : )

Maybe post this on Playa del Carmen forum. They'll suggest local spots with "real" dancing offered. First use the SEARCH bar in the forum. It's been discussed many times.

The same scene happens in Dominican Rep, but no Latin dancing in Jamaica. We've found pricing lower in Mexico than those two other spots.

Thanks. I had done some searches and will do some more. We are taking this trip with our kids, but wanted to do something for the mother-in-law. Some good suggestions. I have currently "landed" on the Dreams resort in Puerto Aventura, but have not finalized that yet. Looks like you have written many reviews and I'll peruse those for some general guidance.

The Palladium has a band that comes in several times a week including to a Sunday beach party called "The Latin Band". They are quite good. There is also a Mariachi band on Saturday night

Check

Grand Palladium Colonial, Kantenah, White Sand, Riviera.

Puerto Aventuras is a wonderful little town. We usually stay at Catalonia Riviera Maya or Dreams PA. You can walk to town in about 3 blocks. Like SeaBass says they do give lessons by the pool at most resorts. No live music at Dreams PA but Catalonia does have some live music in the lobby bar.

The Grand Palladium has live bands in 2 of their lobbies every evening. The bands play a mixture of classic rock, Latin, soul and pop. Their animation team also gives Latin dance lessons around the pool during the day.
