AI vs. Restaurants

If we don't take the AI package, what could we expect to pay per person per day for 3 meals daily (nice meals NOT fast food). As there will be 8 in our party (6 adults and 2 children), we are trying to determine which would be to our advantage.

1. Re: AI vs. Restaurants

Depending on what you want to spend, you can go to $50 per day apiece easily, or you can get by for $10 if you go to good restaurants in Zihuatanejo at "Pozole Alley" (near the artisan's market - on Ciprian's board go to the MAP section and dig out a map). If dining is your main objective, or one of your main objectives like it is for me, you'd be missing out on a lot of good dining opportunities by doing the AI. If, however, you just want the convenience of having the 2 children fed often and whenever they want and your drinks as often as you want, an AI will save some $$, enough so some people do the AI, do breakfast, lunch some of the time and dinner rarely! They go out on the town for a lunch or their dinner whenever they feel like it! Of course, drinks anytime (including soda, juice, etc). By the way, there aren't really any fast-food places like McDonalds, Hardy's etc. Los Braceros is the closest to that, but it isn't (downtown Zihuatanejo). Suggestion: if you do the AI, you can save some money. Take some of your meals around town with the money you save! Alternate: take most of your meals at restaurants and go to the grocery store and buy bread, cheese, lunch meat, etc. and make your own lunches at different times! The best grocery store is Comercial Mexicana in Zihuatanejo - just like a fancy grocery store at home but less expensive! Cheapest beer and booze in town, too! Whatever you do, you'll know what's best for you next time!
