Transportes de Norte and Omnibus de Mexico have direct services, some overnight. If you want to travel in greater comfort there is one overnight Turistar departure to Aguascalientes, from where it's just a short hop to Zacatecas.

Thank you! One other question is the trip safe to take in the near future?

Hello, you have helped me before. Hope you can help here. Need to get from Zacatecas to Guanajuato on 28 October. It would appear you have to go via Leon. Having trouble with the bus websites and trying to co-ordinate the two trips. Which bus line should we use to do the two legs of the trip and do you know the times they run?? Do not want to arrive at Guanajuato at night.

Bus schedules are usually only available 30 days in advance so you can't really plan for October right now - but schedules don't usually change much. There is one direct early bus on Omnibus de Mexico that leaves at 5.15 am otherwise you need to change somewhere such as Leon. To do the latter option you would use a combination of ETN, Primera Plus and/or Omnibus de Mexico. The best way is just to go to the bus station and bus to Leon (e.g. the OdeM at 10 am) and when you arrive at Leon get the next bus to Guanajuato - no need to book in advance and those buses are frequent. Overall journey time will be 5-6 hours.

Thank you so much you are a legend. The direct bus would be a lot less hassle, but soooo early. Getting off the subject a bit but do you think a day and night in Zacatecas,Guanajuato, san Miguel de Allende & queretaro is enough time to see everything??

"See" everything? Maybe. Enjoy everything? No! If that's all the time you have though.....I would spend two nights in Guanajuato and visit San Miguel for a few hours en route to Queretaro. A lot depends on your interests of course.

Yes 2 or more days is always better! Plenty to do in all these towns.

As to bus Zac - Gto looks like ODM only has 1 daily at 5:30 am. Both ODM & ETN go to Leon from which there are buses to Guanajuato every half hour or so.

No safety issues that I have heard of from Nuevo Loredo or other destinations.
