Royal Decameron

Has anyone been to the recently renovated Royal Decameron in Los Cabos? Pictures look great, but I can't find any reviews. Also I've never been to Los Cabos....is it hot in January?

I heard that the former Desire / Tempations / Desire resort is reopening as the Royal Decameron in December. It is in the 2nd largest town in Los Cabos ~ San Jose del Cabo. That's about 20 miles from the largest town ~ Cabo San Lucas.

Some Canadians report being disappointed that the evenings are sometimes cool tho' the days are nice & warm.

Was Desires the clothing-optional resort? If so, is the new Royal Decameron also the same?

Temptation was topless optional, and Desire was clothing optional. The new Royal Decameron will be a family friendly resort.

I was surprised when I first read reports from folks who were disappointed with the weather in January. But if you're expecting HOT and you get warm days & cool late evenings/mornings, then I guess that you'd be disappointed.

Someone asked about touring Mayan ruins on their Cabo visit. Luckily they asked before they booked their trip or they would have been very disappointed.

I'm a big fan of doing lots of research to be sure a destination matches your travel style & so on.

Sheroto ~ if you go the new Decameron, be sure to write a review and maybe also a Trip Report on the San Jose del Cabo forum. It will be interesting to see if this resort succeeds as a family friendly place.

We just came back from the new Royal Decameron in San Jose. We highly recommend going! It opened Sat, Dec 21 and we arrived Tuesday, Dec 24 (stayed til yesterday). Although there is still "work to be done", the beach and pool are perfect and uncrowded...you want crowds, go to Cabo. Yikes! The rooms are comfortable, the showers have rain heads and good water pressure, the buffets are very reasonable (plenty of fresh fish, shrimp, chicken, etc for dinner and typical breakfast/lunch). The drinks are flowing freely, the staff is very friendly and Brian, the activities director, has the day and evening festivities running smoothly. Go there and have fun!

Thanks so much for the update.

I am taking my mother there for a week.

Neither of us have ever been to the Las Cabos side of Mexico and are really looking forward to visiting this new resort.

We are arriving on Jan. 11 - we don't expect "bells & whistles" and look forward to some r&r, swimming, clean rooms and good service. Can't wait!!

PS Did you do any excursions while you were there? Are they available?

Karen, I am escorting a group there on Jan. 11/14. I am a travel agent and am trying to set up a whale watching tour for one of the mornings. The tour is 2/1/2 hours and will run around $45 each which includes a full breakfast and beverages including alcohol. If you are interested in joining us (our group is from 40 -65 age group) please email me a jskudder@travelonly.net

Thinking about taking wife and mom for 3-4 days. Is the hotel on the beach and are the grounds and pool finished and nice. How far is downtown cabo. Is the hotel close to anything! thanks
