airport ATM clarification

I am sorry to bring this up again, but researching prior answers seems to leave me confused about one thing:

I understand there are ATMs in terminals one and three at SJD airport. I have always used the ATM's around Mexico in CUN and PVR airports because they are regular ATM's that are bank affiliated, so I can land, get pesos at a normal rate, and be on my way. They were not physically attached to a bank but they were santander, banamex, etc. major-bank affiliated.

So, Are the SJD airport ATM's "regular ATMs" affiliated with a known bank or not - I have seen different information on these boards. I generally know to avoid sucker ATM's, (it's the same way in a las vegas casino) but I don't know what the nature of these ones in the airport are.

Problem is I am staying in the corridor - once I leave the airport it could be several days before I can get to either town to go to a bank ATM, and I want to have money for tips, the bus, etc. So I would like to use the airport machines if they are not a total rip-off.

thanks for any clarification from someone who has recently been.

The ATMs that they have in OXXO stores arent bank affiliated, but in the same ATM network Amalgamated Bank uses, so I would trust them. I think it's Allpoint?

I have never been to Cabo, but there are OXXOs all over Mexico - and usually in the airports.

Not sure about the ATM at the airport, but if you have a private transfer...ask them to pull into the 'Applebee's Restaurant' center...and there a Santander there. It's on the main hwy just west of the toll road.

Most people at the Los Cabo airport arrivals want only to to get out of the that area and get outside and away from the Timeshare Sharks that are trying to convince you to talk to them. So I don't think many people hang out in that area looking at ATM's.

If it were me, given your circumstances, I would buy some Pesos through my local bank before leaving. The exchange rate (plus fees) will not be the best, but (IMO) far better than you will get at the Cabo airport. Once you're at your resort, they may offer you a very decent exchange rate at the front desk, if not, you will at least have some Pesos to get you by until you can find a Cambio.

Even the "Cambio" at the SJD offers low rates.

Small US bills will work (in a pinch) for tips and such, but you often get more bang for your buck if you can pay in Pesos.
