Transportation for Garden Route

My friend and I would like to do the Garden Route (Port Elizabeth to Cape Town, or vice versa) this June. We're looking into different options for transportation.

What would you guys suggest? Car? Baz Bus? Greyhound?

We are college students, so renting a car seems really nerve wracking. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

For two of you Car Hire is by far the cheapest and most flexible. Don't see why it should be nerve racking. However during the World Cup period you must get your car hire and accommodation sorted out ASAP. For car hire, surprisingly rates have not increased over normal. Look at www.holidayautos.co.uk weekly rates start from about $225 incl CDW and TPW insurance and all taxes. You need to be over 21 (under 25 may involve a surchage on some cars), hold a licence for at least 2 years and you need a Credit Card. There may also be a one way drop off charge if you fly back one way.

Unfortunately accommodation prices are significantly increased and in Cape Town and PE much is already booked or reserved so this is probably the priority. Along the Garden Route an excellent option might be to look at National Parks accommodation in Wilderness and Storms River. Look at Forest Cabins in Wilderness Ebb and Flow South and Oceanettes in Storms River, Tsitsikamma. A cabin for two people with en-suite shower and WC from R460 ($60) pernight for the two of you. There is still availabity left in moth camps for most of June.
