Day trip Tulum snorkeling with kids

Hi, We're off to Tulum, Cabanas Las Lunas, in April. Wondering best day trip for good snorkeling, the kids, 14 and 12, first time. Looked at Yal-Ku Lagoon, Xelha or Edventures tour. We'll have a car, so can take a few short snorkels at cenotes, Akumal, etc. on other days.

any ideas? THANKS!

If you have a car, then just go to Yal-Ku by 9 am, snack/refreshment at La Buena Vida on the way back, and then Akumal. Another day, try Xel-Ha (expensive - you will enjoy Yal-Ku / Akumal more)

Not sure why you mention edventures if you have a car

Try a Dos Ojos visit

Good that you'll have a car, esp with 2 children. And as VSD mentiond above, I'd make Yal-Ku a priority, esp since it will be their first time. A wonderful starter spot. Tulum and Ak are so close, you can easily do Y-K one day, and Ak Beach another if you'd like. And yes, you'll have several great cenote choices. They will love it!

Thanks! Just mentioned Edventures in case anyone thought guide would be helpful for first time snorkelers. Yal-ku sounds perfect. We're not huge commercial park fans but thought kids might also like Xel-ha for zip lines, tubes and snorkeling or should we just miss that altogether?

There are other zip line type parks you can do using your car. Indiana-Joes and Hidden Worlds are close to Tulum. Personally, I wouldn't pay the big bucks for Xel-Ha when these other parks are pick-your-activity type and swimming/snorkeling is free or very low cost at Tulum, Akumal, Yal-Ku and other cenotes all around the area. Cenores: some big and some small. Read about them under Top Questions in the Riviera Maya, Akumal and Playa Del Carmen Forums for info.

Nope, rent a guide, if required, at the local Akumal Dive Shop (keeps the $ to the locals) - then you get showers, equipment, lockers and a smile

Hi again, Just saw info on LabnaHa Cenote. Does anyone recommend that over the other cenotes in this thread? Again, we have our own car. Just looking for best snorkel for beginner kids (sounds like Yal-Ku Lagoon over Xel-ha) and then another day or two of morning cenotes.

Thanks!

LabnaHa Cenote - did you want to do the zip line / kayak / cave snorkeling

expensive at 80-90$

Haven't been but Dos Ojos at 100 pesos or so, is an excellent value
