1st time advice

We are heading to Barcelo Maya Palace just after Christmas. We would like to take the kids (9) & (8) to the Tulum ruins. We will not have a car. Any advice for a tour or "not to be missed" item would be appriciated. Thank you...a bit behind in my planning ahead:)

Taxi to the Ruins is the easiest

Here is a do it yourself thread - no need for an excursion company

Also think about the Coba Ruins - these you get to climb

use pesos, with dollars you get a bad exchange rate.

Pretty sure the ruins only take pesos for admission. Taxis will give you a ten to one exchange rate, the official rate is about 13 to 1USD.

Take the extra time and head down to the beach road-then turn right at the end of the T stop - explore the many small bungalow hotels and AMAZING BEACH for miles-have lunch use the beach-they will let you if you eat or have drinks.

Have a wonderful trip!!!!!

When we stayed at the Palladium, we took the collectivo to the ruins but with kids, I'd take a taxi or arrange a private tour with USA Transfers. They took USD for admission and guide. The ruins pale in comparison to Chitzen Itza and IMHO in poor conditions although they are much older. Have not been to Coba but it's on my list.
