Playa Maroma on your own?

Can you do a day trip to spend on the beach at Playa Maroma? What would be the best way...all-inclusive day passes (Cost?)....or are there hotels or beach bars to access the beach, on your own. Also ammenities...chairs, umbrella, food or drink? Also where is it exactly and how would you get there by Collectivo/taxi?

Would love to take a day trip adventure there!......Thanx for your replies

sorry there are no beach clubs, but you can get a day pass at the Catalonia Playa Maroma, if you contact them they will give you the rate either morning and afternoon or afternoon and evening

There IS a beach club at the Maroma Marina (now called Maroma Adventures) which is on the Maroma beach. Their website is: http://www.maromaadventures.com/.

They have a beach club and there are chairs, palapas, loungers, restaurant (s), bar and many different water and land activities you can do. You can take a taxi there. Do not take a collective as the drive from the highway to the marina is through a mangrove that is right by the side of the road and there is no walking path (we have stayed at the EDM 8 times which is next door and uses the same drive).

You can contact them on their website to find out how much their beach club access costs. Enjoy!

Yes, you can definitely go to the beach club at Playa Maroma, we just did it while updating maps.

We took a colectivo from Puerto Morelos, the security guard at the gate put a wrist band on us and we paid 100 pesos each. he offered to call a ride for us, but we declined (mistake!, it's a long walk!) Luckily a man who worked at Maroma stopped and picked us up :)

it's a beautiful beach club, good food and drinks too, great place to spend a day!

I forgot to add that they are so friendly and accommodating that they would probably call a taxi for you to return if there are none there.

Thank you for the info on your Playa Maroma beach club day!!!

A couple of questions:

Where did you ask to be dropped off in the collectivo to get there.....i'm not exactly sure where it is. I'm coming from PDC.

Is the security guard at the gate located right off the highway where your collectivo dropped you off. Does he call a taxi to take you down to the club, or do they have a shuttle.

Also how did you get back to your hotel at the end of your time there. Do they call a shuttle or taxi for you to take you to the highway to catch a collectivo back?

Thanx so much!!!

How much did it cost to spend the day there.....or is the beach loungers free if you by drinks etc.
