It's not exactly a 'stand' but I thought it was really good (and fun!).

The most stands in Playa are at the bus station at the corner of 2nd and 5th, but there are various ones all along 10th and 15th avenue.

The most famous is the Tacobi taco van stand on 12 calle between 5th and 10th avenue. Can't miss the old Volkswagon van.

My favorite are the carts selling cochinita pibil near the little white church at Juarez ave and 5th ave. Your choice, tacos or tortas. Several other carts as well.

I like Mr. Kiwi's - it is located on 10th avenue between calle 8 and calle 10. It is a small shop with a lunch counter. They sell 3 tacos for about 45 pesos. They also have great grilled tortas.

Tell me more about this!

What is a torta?

3 taco's for 45 peso's?? That's a little over $3 usd...

This sounds very "local" - traveler not tourist stuff...

Hanna or No???

A torta is a sandwich.

Correction on the van spelling, Tacombi taco van. Tacos run about $1.25 each usd.

Carboncito's restaurant only charges 11 pesos for one of their tacos al pasto, 15 pesos for tacos al pastor con queso (with cheese). 5 of those will render you sleepy with a big smile on your face. And that's at a sit down restaurant eating some of the best tacos al pastor in the world.

I do have a soft spot for the cart ladies cochinita pibil, sometimes called puerco pibil. Have them put some of those pickeled red onions on top, oh my.

And if you go to Carboncito's for Happy Hour the tacos are 2 for 1! Get a bucket of beer 120 pesos..you're all set! :-)

Wouldn't any Taco stand in Mexico be authentic?
