RIU TEQUILA what is there to do here?

Just booked today. Arriving January 19th. Never been to Mayan Riviera. What is Riu Tequila like? What are the sister hotels like? Any advice? Any bars close by?

Lots! Very nice pool. They have tours going any where you want everyday! They have stuff at the resort all the time. One day is a beach party with a live band, vollyball, games. Lots of fun. A short cab ride and your in Playa. Shopping, bars, dancing. The sister hotels are all across the street. It is a nice area, not real busy. You do have a little walk to the ocean. Maybe a 1/4 mile. Food was good!

We are headed there too..we leave the 15th til the 21st! We love it there so much that we are returning there after last year's stay. We mostly hang at the Yucatan all day b/c it is on the beach & we LOVE to play beach volleyball all day in teh sun. Just be ready to enjoy & eat VERY good food & lots to choose from. We ate lunch at the Yucatan everyday too because the rest is on the beach. We didn't venture to the Playacar much..they really had a lot of beache erosion last year & not so good volleyball..but I do hope to get there to have lunch. Not sure about bars but the Tequila does have a disco & live entertainment nightly..that was so-so. We are more early risers & beach goers not much of the night owls except for a bit of shopping:)

The Tequila is the the liveliest of

the three resorts (Yucatan, and Playacar).

There is a little strip mall to the left as you walk out of the Tequila, but a trip into Playa Del Carmen is a must!! If I remember right it is about a $7 cab fare each way.In Playa Del Carmen there is a ferry that will take you accross to Cozumel (about 1/2 trip). There is also a tour that will take you to Cancun (all the bar hoping you want). We loved every minute of the Tequila and can't wait to get back there.
