Pool/swim up bars

I am thinking of changing my hotel...we are booked at the Ibeostar Maya for the beginning of October, but are considering changing to a hotel closer to Playa de Carmen, with less damage and a nice pool/swim up bar. Anyone out there have any suggestions....we love to lay by the pool all day and relax.

Why are you thinking of switching. IB runs a free bus into PDC. THeir pools (both the Lindo-Maya including wave pool, lazy river), and the Del-Mar pool) are fabulous. Both have swim up bars (in fact the BEach-Del Mar pool has at least two swim up bars. As a MAYA guest you can use facilities at all the other 3 hotels.

October hopefully might not be that crowded (although IB tends to run close to capacity all the time).

The only "down" side to any of this is that its still hurricane season. IB did a pretty good job during Emily. They (IB) are constantly working on the repairs and make progress each week. Surely by October everything will be back in order.

We just returned from the Reef Coco Beach. They have one big pool that is like several small pools connected. The swim up bar was never crowded. It is a smaller hotel...only 200 rooms but it is short walk up the beach to town or a $3 cab ride. Can't beat that! We never had a problem getting a chair at the beach or a shade palapa during the day.
