I know nothing about it. But it always concerns me when so many reviewers are from Merida, or elsewhere in Mexico, and are first time reviewers. I hope someone here has actual experience and can comment.

Well, it appears to be a French bistro in Montecristo, that's well off the tourist beat. See www.facebook.com/Bel.ami.bistro.frances/info

I think a select few have heard of it. The select few who will post reviews! Another reason never pay attention to the restaurant rankings on TA.

We ate at Le Bistrot when we were in Merida last month. It is a French restaurant located in the mall that contains Carl Jr. We were pleasantly surprised. We each ordered the three glass flights of wine. For the average drinker, the wines are very good. If you drink a lot of expensive wines, then you will find them a little light in complexity, but still very drinkable. I got the escargot and my husband got the onion soup. Both were good (I would have liked a little more garlic in the escargot), but I like garlic. The onion soup was very very good. In fact I tried the soup and didn't want to give it back. The hubby got the steak which he said was good. I can't remember what I got but it was good. The highlights were the desserts. I got the chocolate fondue, and it was to die for. It was for two, so I shared. My husband got the creme puff (they called it something else), and it was delicious. It rivaled my mother's who used to make them once a year. My sisters and I would shove them in our mouths as fast as we could until she screamed at us to stop. I would have done the same here if it would have been possible. We really enjoyed the dinner. The service was also quite good.

My only point of reference for Carl Jrs. Is that it is on the street in front of Myabi.
