PDM New Building II

Has anyone stayed in Posada Del Mar's New Building II section? I emailed PDM to request a mini suite in New Building I. and I received a reply stating that they had a suite in New Building II. Does anyone have any info regarding these suites, either stayed there or know someone that has stayed there? Any information would be appreciated.

The hotel has two new additions: new building#1 and new building #2.

The new section, which is about ten years old, runs east to west just to the right of the lobby. Rooms there have covered balconies with a pool/garden view and traditional bathrooms, closed off from the bedroom with a door. It has three mini-suites at the east end, one on each of the three floors. These mini-suites are the only rooms in the hotel with a tub/shower combo.

New building #1, which opened four years ago, runs north to south along the back of the property. Rooms there have showers with a glass top that open into the bedroom and smaller, covered balconies. Most upper floor rooms have an ocean view. It has one mini-suite on the second floor with an optional connecting room with two double beds, no ocean view. A similar mini-suite on the third floor is in the process of being prepared for guests.

New Building #2 runs along the southern perimeter of the property and opened this January. Rooms there have traditional bathrooms and smaller, uncovered balconies. Upper floor rooms have an ocean view. There are three mini-suites, one on each of the three floors, with optional connecting rooms with two double beds. These are at the west end of the section, closest to the street, the beach and the water.

The hotel takes requests for specific locations, like a first floor or third floor room or mini-suite, but it does not guarantee that the room you wind up with will be what was requested. Rooms are not pre-assigned but assigned only on check-in from the list of rooms ready for guests at that time. Usually, if you are not happy with that room, the hotel can change it for you within a day or two.

islawoman: Thanks for that wonderful answer. I think that clears up any questions anyone could have about the rooms at PDM. Thanks again, very much appreciated.

Heather, we are going to stay in the newest PDM building for the first 1/3 of our trip this summer. We are especially happy about an in-room safe and mini fridge. Please lets us (all ) know what your learn next week.

We are staying at Posada del Mar for one night in March, because of date changing resulting in our main lodging's non availability for our first night. Is it worth booking a mini suite if it's only for the one night?

The difference between regular rooms and the mini-suites are (1) the mini-suites are larger and (2) they also have microwaves. You can decide whether those features are worth the extra $7US plus tax to you.

We really enjoyed our stay there this past summer. Our standard room in new bldg2 was great - brand new - nicely designed and decorated, with a room safe, and the split A/C was wonderfully quiet. The room is a bit smaller, but we enjoyed it (and the balcony) a lot. Had a mini-fridge, but it wasn't very cold. Nicely tiled modern bathroom. For $65, we'd gladly stay there again.

Thank you both. I just booked a standard room in one of the new buildings.
