I guess anything's possible, but not practical. The standard practice is to catch a taxi or shuttle from the airport to the Port of Cancun, then take a ferry to IM.

We just did the ferry, takes about 1/2 hour, enclosed or roof-top, some have bevs. and snacks. I didn't pay but think it was approx. $5-$8 round trip.

Just remember on return trip there are two ferry departure areas: one for Puerto Juarez, one for hotel zone. I would say try to leave the island before 4:00 or after 7:00. Lines get long during those hours. Beautiful place.

If you are going to leave after 7 (good idea, stay for sunset, drinks and dinner) then you need to take the ferry to Puerto Juarez as the hotel zone ferries stop running at 5 or 5:30pm.

only if you charter a private helicopter. You can see Isla from the north end of Cancun - its VERY close..... best way to get there is by Ferry or private charter (yatch). If you are staying at Villa Rolandi, they spoil you and pick you up on their private yatch!! .....what a way to start a vacation! :-)
