Hola! You can definitely swim there. As for the bar, it seemed like Sat. & Sun. there were a lot of day trippers(exposure for the hotel)? If not, NaBalam is right across with a good bar and beach! I hope this helps? Have fun!!!

We tried to go to the King's Pool last May. Avalon did not want us on their property. We knew we could stay on the beach but there wasn't much of that to stay on! We didn't think to try to order a drink (might have been a good idea!)

We never made it to King's Pool because we could not get around to it. I really want to see it! I have heard that the beach has eroded since we were there. So, there may be no beach where you can swim.

Mapchick, We tried that, and they didn't want us in there! The manager (or someone in authority) came out and talked to us. We did indicate to the guard we were ok! He must have been really on the job because he got his boss. We will try again though since you said to!
