First time visitor

We've stayed in Cancun/Playa many times in all inclusives, and were looking into staying at the Palace until reading about the not so great beach conditions and only having 1 restaurant.

Now open for suggestions, somewhere on a great beach is number 1 priority, walkable to nice inexpensive restaurants, we'll probably get a golf cart for a few days. Looking at Feb/March time.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

That's high demand time so the sooner you book something the better. Check out the following: Privilege Aluxes, Ixchel, Nautibeach, Playa Arena, Na Balam. All have great beaches. Privilege has an optional AI plan but breakfast is included. Ixchel and Nautibeach are condo hotels with full service. All are minutes walking to a huge number of restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops.

Privilege Aluxes has live music at their beach cafe/restaurant starting around 7:30. You can go and just have drinks and listen or while having dinner. I don't know about the others but I doubt it. Maybe Na Balam? Ixchel didn't have anything when we stayed there and their restaurant/bar is more like a snack bar by the pool that closes early.

I only know that the restaurant affiliated with Nautibeach (Mayan Beach Club) does have a singer and/or guitar player on occasion - not sure how often.

If you mean by entertainment those cheesy shows that the resort staff puts on at many of the mainland Mega resorts the answer is NO... With Hidalgo only a block away from the PA/Ixchel or Nauti that is the evening entertainment, however we love the music on the beach every night at PA. There also beach night clubs that play loud music all night long cif that is your thing

The resorts on Isla are tiny compared to Cancun, Playa and the Riviera Maya. With Isla Mujeres also being a hometown to over 13,000 residents you will find lots of "local" entertainment. Our Casa Cultura (Cultural Center) has weekly events with dance, art, music and food at the Cultural Center and in the town square. If you come in mid February (12th through the 16th) there is a country music festival which coincides with Carnival. Local bars and restaurants will have live music in the afternoons and evenings throughout the Island. You can take cooking classes, zumba, art classes or yoga. A bit different from the entertainment found at the nice resorts on the mainland but still fun and entertaining. Enjoy your time on the Island.

We also have face painted drummers and a fire show that walk up and down Hidalgo performing for tips. This is fun when you are a visitor but gets a bit old when you live here, have a business on Hidalgo or having a quiet dinner out. lol.
