That must be why I've been seeing such great rates for Aura lately. May consider it for March 2013. Thanks.

I really hope this is what it sounds like vs what went on when that property became a Wyndham property. In that transition it just leased the name & pretended to be something it wasn't. Also based on the announcement you've pasted here it looks like the Regency section is part of the change over, which might mean many time share owners are about to get stabbed in the back AGAIN. UNLESS the people who actually own & currently run the property are replaced by an outside management team I don't think this is as good as they are making it sound.

Larry,

As a time share member, I hope not. I am optimistic that they will do right by the members, atleast in the short term. I doubt any resort in cozumel can afford to let customers go. As it stands the time share owners pay more than most guests at the resort, but thats what we signed up when we bought into it. We (my huisband & I) assumed that prices would conitnue to go up and by buying in we would save money in the long run. No way could we imagine that the economy would have tanked so bad and that they'd be pretty much giving the rooms away for free to get people in.

In any case, I am optimistic that they will do right by us. It took the resort 10+ years to build up a loyal clientale, doesn't make sense to lose that.

I really hope you are right & they do take care of you. Time share money helped them make a go of it in the first place, but they have certainly mistreated many of you when they decided to go adults only when they sold the time share to "help" make vacations more affordable / cost effective to families. Then they tried to market the Aura as a swingers & clothing optional resort even though it shared the same area of the beach the rest of the property does. Hopefully this alliance / or management change or whatever it is will put the place back on track. Having stayed at the Reef Club when it first opened & having sent several friends there just after it's been a bit of a disappointment ever since.

I think I first heard about it here.

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g150809-i66-k18563…

AND there were a lot more threads about it here, many of which were removed due to the adult content posted in them. At one point I started a very heavy internet campaign using every travel forum I could join trying to stop it from happening. I don't know what eventually did change their minds but it was looking like it could go either way for a while.
