Carnaval question

If there was one parade or event during Carnaval not to miss which one would it be. We will be there from February 22 to March 1 with a wide range of ages. 75 down to 3. (21 of us) Which parade would be the most fun for the whole family? Fun for the kids?

Thanks

13 days and counting...sigh....

Sounds like fun for your whole family! Since you'll be there during the entire time Carnaval is happening...you may want to take in more than one event.

You asked about parades...Tuesday 2/28 will be the last and longest parade which usually last for 2-3+ hours. Start time is 6 pm (Mexican time). The parade route begins at 11th street and the inland lane on Melgar (oceanfront road) and goes to the north past the plaza and further north, turns around at the airport road and comes back south again on the ocean side lane of the street---so there are two passes of the parade and you can catch either one. The same floats will be in the parades on Saturday and Sunday evenings...but Tuesday attracts a number of local folks, many who dress up and join the parade. The kids will love any of the parades. You'll need to arrive early to stake out a place for your group of 21 to be together and to allow the kiddies to get a prime spot by the curb to watch the parade.

Some of your group might also enjoy seeing some of the children's parades which are less crowded and last ~ 1 hour: Friday 2/24 at 9 a.m. is the Children's Grade School Costume Parade...usually it is groups of children in their costumes who are competing in dance competition. They make one pass on Melgar (ocean front road). Another opportunity is to go to the children's masquerade parade on Monday 2/27 at 6 pm. There will be some large groups as well as individual children of all ages who have participated in dance or costume contests. Enjoy! ~~Karen
