All Inclusive near the center of town

Which all inclusives are near the center of Cozumel? Planning a trip in January and I'm not sure how many water activities we can do given the colder weather ?

We were there last January enjoying temps in the 80s, water temps 77-80 degrees. So don't worry about that. If you enjoy dining out, there are so many wonderful and affordable restaurants in town to choose.

None are right in the center of town. Palace and a few others are just south of town, kind of walkable to town center or short taxi ride.

We loved our stay at Coral Princess in condo-like 2BR rooms. Nice pool, great snorkeling, affordable quality food & drinks, then into town for 75 pesos each way for fabulous dinner. Other trips for diving were to Occidental AI just because it's way south nearest to great diving without long boat rides.

The center of town is pretty unpleasant when all the cruise ships are in, you'll be glad not to be there. It is very warm to hot in January.

Look at Cozumel Palace. 15 minute walk to town, and very very nice.

You really only have two in town & they are very different in cost / services. The Palace & Hotel Cozumel. Roughly 2 1/2 miles away from the center of town is the Park Royal. I stay at Hotel Cozumel so my photo tour is up to date while the other 2 albums are roughly 10 years old.

The Park Royal (now called Grand Park Royal) https://flic.kr/s/aHsjNPyQ3x

Looks like I haven't uploaded the tour from the Palace to my new Flickr account so I'll do that shortly & share the link in a new post.

Larry we really need to get you back into the Palace. Same bones, but waaaaay upgraded. In and outside looks a whole lot different, better furniture, different bar area, etc.

I'm going in April, if you're around then, I'd be happy to escort you on a "tour".

You have no idea how hard it was to be allowed in for the photos I did get. They (and the Allegro) were very reluctant to let me do my thing. I think I even wore my TripAdvisor T shirt thinking I'd be welcome. The person I had to talk to at the Allegro was worried their own pro photographer would be put off by a competitor BUT because I was staying at the Grand & would be doing an album for it they finally agreed to let me in.

Also remember that back then not many had photos on line and things have improved big time in that area. My goal back them was to get as much info about the waterfront (or beach) sections of any of the hotels / resorts that I could after the re openings from Hurricane Wilma damage or in the case of the Park Royal a full refurb after getting new owners. .

i tried to add this to the above message but was too slow.

I had stayed at the Plaza Las Glorias (old name that building ran under) in Dec 2000 & had an idea what it looked like in the rooms but they weren't allowing me to explore the building at all. As for this years trip I'm there (at Hotel Cozumel) Jan 27 thru Feb 17 & will have 4 friends joining us at different dates during our stay. 1 has been to Coz before but the others will be new guests to the island. Between Carnaval, diving & showing them around & a snorkel trip the time will go by quickly

I just want to say that I took a tour of the Palace and the Hotel Cozumel. Opposite ends of the spectrum. Palace is posh, HC is more of hotel chain type of setting. Nice rooms, but kinda basic. Very clean at both places, well decorated for their class of hotels, etc.... I could recommend either based upon budget.

My only "gripe" is there is no middle of the road AI near town. Though there is the Grand Park Royal, which we did not tour, due it's proximity to the cruise ships. I love seeing the cruise ships come and go, but don't want one parked in front of me.

$0.02.

Totally agree with that first paragraph. With the Canadian dollar almost always running well below the US dollar's value we prefer longer stays over posh. Air fare is roughly the same for a 1 week stay, a 2 week stay or even longer & the longer stay isn't ruined so easily by a Norte. Also the service at Hotel Cozumel is very good with a friendly staff. One year we split our 2 weeks between the Grand & Hotel Cozumel so friends could have a nice beach to walk along proved to us we got better service at Hotel Cozumel.
