Tipping Transfer Company

I don't believe any of the transfer companies from airport to hotel and back include the tip in their charge. How much is appropriate for a family of 4 each way?

Are they carrying bags from van to hotel? I would give at least two dollars per bag. Also something for the driver.

It's 4 of us and we each have a bag. So about 8$ for the bags and then how much for the driver if you;ve used in the past and can advise what is customary?

To anywhere north of Playa del Carmen, my husband and I tip US$10 each way - more if the driver is especially friendly and/or helpful. IME, the van driver loads and unloads bags but doesn't schlep them around. The greeter guy at the airport may well carry your bags to the van and for that I'd tip him a couple of dollars (maybe $4 since there are 4 of you). The bell boy at the hotel is the one who gets my luggage from the van to my room and for that I tip about US$1 per bag rounded up to the nearest 5.

For a family of four to Cancun, I'd tip the driver about the same - US$10.

Remember NOT to tip with US coins (they are useless to the recipient) - and bills should be in good condition (not torn or defaced) .... or you can tip in pesos.

I chip the greeter a few bucks for escorting us the 50 or so feet to where the van will load u up.

If your staying in the hotel zone $5.00 to the driver is more than fair. Other than driving u from point a to b all he does is open the doors and set your bags on the ground. At that point the bell boys take over.

The bell boys are the ones who deserve $10.00. They have the hook ups for perks at the resort therefor deserve more money.
