Is there a honeymoon spot that meets our wants/needs?

My finance (29) and me (33) are getting married in April of 2015. We really wanted to stay at the all-inclusive Sandals Grande in St. Lucia, but flying out of a smaller airport in Austin, TX, would cost a day of travel there-and-back - we'd rather not burn two days just for traveling.

So that's what has us looking in Mexico. In order, here a list of what we are looking for in a luxury 5-star all-inclusive adults resort.

1. Great beach - clean beautiful white sand, trees, and the clearest water there is to offer.

2. Large extravagant pools with multiple swim-up pool bars, swim-up rooms and some sort of lazy river around the resort.

3. Drinks and food - good as a minimum, we would really like for all the eats/restaurants and drinks/selection to be excellent

4. Entertainment - we're young and we love to have fun. So throughout the day we would love to have non-stop entertainment (music, games and so on) around the pools and beach areas. Then some sort of nightlife AT the resort - A place hopefully that will not shutdown at 12:00 A.M. on our honeymoon if we're enjoying ourselves with other couples/people.

5. Excursions/water sports at the resort or VERY close by - We'd like to take excursions to go snorkeling/suba diving, parasailing, swim with dolphins, nature tour and ziplining. For the water sports: jet skis at our disposal, keelboats, windsurfers, kiteboards, kayaks and Whalers.

So, it there a resort that will meet our needs?

Thanks in advance!

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! Two questions; are you looking for an AI or Non AI and a proposed budget?

Secrets Maroma meets all your requirements except for the large pools and lazy river.

Maybe Iberostar Grand.

I agree on Secrets Maroma. Secrets the Vine may also be an option but not going to have those kind of pools. You may also opt for Hyatt Zilara. Nightlife at the resort will be a problem at most of the higher end spots except for Secrets. However, if you stay in the Hotel Zone you are close to the clubs. Another option may be the Playa Del Carmen area with Paradisus La Perla. Night club on premises and a pool party every Saturday. If the crowd gets too sedate at night you are a ten minute cab ride from 5th Ave in Playa which has great nightlife.

Also IB Grand is beautiful but may not be much nightlife.

Have you checked Mayakoba (Fairmont). Very similar to what you are looking for.

IMO, Fairmont is the opposite of what the OP is looking for. Not AI, not AO and not a lively resort.

Secrets Maroma has most of what you are looking for and food is better than at Sandals resorts. Also, no tiered service levels so all rooms have mini bars, room service. No reservations for restaurants. But it is about the beach here and not elaborate pools.

Royal Playa del Carmen has a lot of activity with busy pool and beach and location walking distance to local nightlife and easy access to excursions. Too busy and crowded for my taste but I would say worth a look based on your description.

Hyatt Zilara is on a great beach and all rooms have an ocean view. Pools are very nice as are groups. They do have quite a few activities and you can read more about them on their very active Facebook page.

Paradisus La Perla as recommended would be lively resort with very nice rooms and pools but restaurants are not adult only as the other 1/2 of the resort is family. And the beach here is not impressive.

What about this? Get the best of both worlds per se... 4 nights at Excellence Riviera Cancun (pools) and then 4 nights at Secrets Maroma (beach)? Google Maps show they are approximately 25 minutes apart.

Has anyone done this before? If so, did it work out or was it a headache?

Thoughts/comments would greatly be appreciated!
