do's and dont's in cancun

after several trips there myself and countless hours reading

posts in this forum, i(a 38/y/o man) have come up with this list

Do-not worry about the weather

Do-try a resteraunt in old cancun

Do-try to learn the language

Do-look at the ocean at least once and marvel at how crystal clear it is.

Do-be nice to the locals

Do-meet new people

Do-watch at least one sunrise and sunset.

Do-carry a pen

Do-have the time of your life.

Dont-worry about the weather

Dont-pee in public

Dont-be rude to the locals, or to anyone for that matter.

Dont-make whoppy by the pool, or you will find yourself at another hotel for the rest of your trip or in jail.

Dont-drink untill you puke or pass out

Dont-pee in the swim up bar, or any pool for gods sake.

Dont-drink so much that your friend has to write your hotel name and room number on the back of your hand and put you on the bus(see do's about pen).

Dont complain so much as you will ruin everyone elses trip.

Dont-be stupid.

Dont-think you are in America(UK,Ireland or other), your not.

Dont-disrespect anyone or anything.

Dont-be boring

Dont-screw up a good thing.

this is a great list....

Do be sure to tip those who are so helpful to you while you are there...and along that same line, do bring lots of $1 bills!

Do realize you are extrememly close to where Cortes first encountered the Maya.

Do realize those people around you, making your beds and cutting the weeds are Maya.

Do realise they speak Maya among themselves and often find you curious and a bit uncivilised.

Do take the time to know them and something about they view life and the world.
