Can you drink the coffee?

This might seem like a stupid question, but if you can't drink the water, can you drink coffee made from the water? Also, can you drink fountain soda which presumably would also be made out of local water?

I think all of the resorts that cater to N American tourists have purified water.....lets face it, they wouldn`t be in business long if they didn`t. I have never had a problem with coffee, ice, bar drinks or the produce which has to be washed. Now, out of the resorts, I couldn`t say

Interesting question. I never thought of it until last week at Moon Palace. I brush my teeth with bottled water, but brew coffee with tap water. I've never gotten sick at a resort, so I didn't worry about it. In fact, I started using tap water to brush my teeth.

The bigger resorts use purified water throughout. It is used for everything, cooking, coffee, mixed drinks. Ask when you check in if they use purified water. They should also have signs throughout if they use it.

The coffee is made with purified water. No one in Mexico, including the locals, they all drink bottled water. The same goes for fountain drinks. No problem.

We just got back from the Golden Crown Paradise and even the tap water is purified. The only time I didn't drink the water at out hotel was in the shower.

Bonelady, listen to Robert on this.

As a tip, if your room has a coffee maker (after washing it),

bring a pound of your favorite American blend with you, use

the rooms bottled water or buy some and make coffee in the

room. Me and my traveling companions are all helplessly

addicted to DD brew and in Cancun its DD everyday. And, I

happen to like the Mexican coffee. Most of the restaurants will

be using purified water especially at the hotels for out of

room cups of the local java.

As an aside here for you first timers, if you get a chance to

imbibe in the late afternoon or after dinner version of Mexican

Coffee known as "Sexy" Coffee, go for it. The lethal brew is

tremendous and extremely intoxicating and watching the

better chefs or waiters make it is worth the show.
