Carneval in Oaxaca?

We will be in Oaxaca the first two weeks in February, including Ash Wednesday. Are there any carneval celebrations in Oaxaca City or nearby villages?

The Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is a Carnival date in Oaxaca. The town of San Martín Tilcajete has a rather vibrant celebration, noted here, and usually worth attending:

I often end up being in the town on that date, by design or chance, and the odd time I've been there with guests from out of town they've really been intrigued by the festivities.
