Thank you for your advise. We are a group of four, tried to save 10% by purchasing online and also tried to select seats in order to have a better view during the 5 hour ride. If no other choice, will buy while arrive Mexico. But I do see two Canadian travelers and one Chinese traveler posted that they purchased online without any problem.

I have had no success paying online by card in the last few years. And I use Primera Plus more or less every month. Very few people book ahead unless they qualify for a discount fare.

I did have to use an AMEX card though, MC and VIsa wouldn't work even on there. HOwever, I think that is only ADO buses. I had to get my hotel to buy me the Primara Plus ticket between Guanajuato and the DF when I did that as I couldn't get it to work, either. The hotel concierge was very nice and did it but the ticket office wasn't very far from the hotel.

Do you have any advise on safety issues by renting a car and drive around Cancun area. We'd like to make day trips to Chichen Itza and Tulum or Playa Del Carmen.

It shouldn't be a problem buying PP tickets on the day.

Ask your question about driving in the Cancun area on the Cancun forum. This is a forum for a totally different area of Mexico!

This is the Mexico City forum so you are a two hour flight away from the Cancun-Playa del Carmen-Tulum and Chichen Itza area. Regardless, everyone has been there and it is perfectly fine. Roads and signage are quite good and generally straight in that area. No mountains and curves as in central Mexico. Be careful of police who may target tourists for speeding, red lights, etc.
