I would like to ask if there are any ground transportation services available between Toluca airport and Mexico City tourist districts like Centro//Zona Rosa.

Last month I sent enquires to Mexico tourism agency at turismo@mail.edoMexico.gob.mx in English but nobody responded. So far I was not able to find any info in English.

Thanks for your reply

Krekeris,

There is a bus company, Caminante, that offers an hourly service from Toluca to Mexico City's Airport (between 4:00 am and 8:00 pm.) and from there you'd need to take a taxi to you final destination (there is another schedule-restricted service). The cost is the equivalent to $10.00USD. Unfortunately the toll free number I have is 01 800226 46 27 valid if dialed in Mexico (if you have a friend in Mexico he/she can get the information you want). You can try dialing from the US 011 52 722 219 50 07 and find out schedules according to your arrival.

Don't believe me, but I've heard that close to the airport walking about 600m. (1,800 ft +/-) some people go to a taxi base ("sitio crucero del aeropuerto") to board their taxis to Mexico City.

Sorry for the short info.

Volaris (a new discount airline) has a shuttle service directly from the Toluca airport to a small terminal in the south of Mexico City. It's free to their customers, they may offer it to others at a price. Their website was down for maintenance when I checked.

Krekeris,

That taxi base is at Toluca Airport. I got a number from the yellow pages if you want to try and ask: 011 52 (722)273-5169

If you take a bus to Mexico City airport I recommend you to take it from the authorized service (Sitio 300).

Again, sorry for the short info

K,

"If you take a bus to Mexico City airport I recommend you to take it from the authorized service (Sitio 300)."

I meant: If you take a bus to Mexico City airport when you get there, you'd need to take a taxi to your hotel. I recommend you to take the taxi from the authorized service (Sitio 300).

Mextol's information about the services of "Caminante" sounds to me to be what you're looking for. The prices are very reasonable, considering the trip from the airport in Toluca to the center of Mexico City will take about an hour, maybe more depending upon the day of the week/time of day. Going from the Toluca airport to the Mexico City airport, and then taking a taxi from the Mexico City airport to your final destination is both time consuming and expensive, compared to the Caminante alternative - particularly if you're traveling with a suitcase. If you've got the time, Toluca can be an interesting stop overnight, or for a day.

Yes, caminante has shuttles by bus, vans and taxi in a reasonable price. Caminante has different destinatinations, I recommend you to take the Observatorio destination. This bus will take you to the west Terminal in Mexico City. From there you will have to take a taxi to the zona rosa or the subway. It depends on how much luggage you bring. If you do not bring too much luggage take the subway. Outside the Observatorio terminal is the "Observatorio" subway station. Take the subway and get down in the Insurgentes station for the zona Rosa. If you want to go to downtown then you will have to swich lines and get down in the zocalo station.

Well, this is the toll free number for reservations in caminante: 01800-226-4627 . But I think that it is only within Mexico. I have this webpage with phone numbers for reservations, but it is with a travel agency, maybe they can charge more as an extra service, I dont know: http://www.tmt-caminante.com.mx/ (go to agencias and then to reservaciones)

I suggest dialing first this numbers: (722) 2 19 50 07

(722) 2 70 44 00. (Be suere to dial first México´s international access first) And I forgot the information in the area codes are not up to date, it says the area code for toluca is 7 but now is 722.
