Up-to-date prices (pesos)

We are planning to spend a month in Gto in March 2010 and will need to spend a night or two in a hotel or B&B while we look for longer-term housing (we are a family of 3).

Our budget is modest: about 350 pesos per night, 400 max. Are we being unrealistic to think we can get a room with 2 beds (and hot water, etc) at this price?

Can you recommend some clean and quiet places for this price range?

Maybe try Hostal Cantarranas. The beds are hard but the rooms are big and it's right downtown. Get a room on the back as the trash trucks go past in the early mornings!

Hi CanadaMex,

Hostal Cantarranas, as Londinense suggested, may be a good choice as it is close to the main plaza (Jardín de la Unión), the rooms have two beds, a private bathroom and a small kitchenette. There is a small grocery store right next to the hotel.

You might also look into Casa Bertha, which is just off Plaza Meximora above Teatro Principal (across the street from the Jardín de la Unión). There are larger rooms with private bath and kitchenette as well as smaller rooms with shared bath and access to a shared kitchen.

There are also a few hotels close to Mercado Hidalgo and others close to the Alhóndiga de Granaditas that start at $23 USD a night.

Here's a web site with a list of Guanajuato hotels and prices:

Check out the reviews here on Trip Advisor as well.

When you get to Guanajuato, look for the weekly newspaper called the "Chopper" at any of the news kiosks. It comes out every Saturday and has lots of ads for rentals.

Good luck!
