Finding Boat For Tour Isla Ixtapa from Zuhua

We´re in Zihua now and loving it (except for the one pair of glasses lost in the surf despite a croakie),

Talked over the weekend with someone at the pier about hiring a private boat to go from Zihua to Isla Ixtapa for snorkeling Playa Coral including boating along the coast (Playa Linda?, Playa Quieta? Playa other?)

They were talking around $60 total for the boat (up to four people, we are just two) and I have no problem with that or more.

Any ideas how to arrange this?

Many people can recommend reputable people for tours, but if you weren't aware, you can also take a taxi to Playa Linda and jump on the ferry at the pier to Isla Ixtapa, total cost maybe 300 pesos including cab to and from island. The island has good food options as well.

Yes I do know about the Playa Linda option and may end up on that route. But still would prefer the longer boat trip and greater flexibility to follow things as they unfold. Do you or any other posters have specific names to suggest?

MB,

You can give Julio's tours a call.

They do this all of the time. These are really his bread and butter trips.

If you wish you can fish on your way to the beach and then have your catch cooked for you while you are out snorkeling. (and he can give you better options for that snorkeling as well)

I will second contacting Julio http://www.juliostours.com/

He's a great guy and family man. Very nice boat and gear. His English has come a long way since I first met him. Can't go wrong with Julio!

Julio also offers Offshore and Inshore fishing trips. In fact, The Southwest Fisheries Science Center of NOAA named him the #1 Captain in the area for Catch, Tag & Release last year for billfish.
