Ometepec (the epicenter) is a looong ways from PV.

Don't know exactly, but I'd guess around 1000 miles.

It was felt in Acapulco which is closer.

3. Re: Earthquake

It wasn´t physically felt, but there is no phone lines in Mexico City right now so there are some disruptions in banking, etc. Perhaps flights too

We found out because we were trying to make a call to a business and the girl said "It´s an emergency have to to go. The building is shaking!" Must be scary in a high rise office building.

Watching news. Doesn´t seem to be too much damage. Hope not.

The magnitude of an earthquake that struck about 115 miles east of Acapulco, Mexico, was revised down to 7.6, the U.S. Geological Survey says.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon said in a Twitter post that there were no immediate reports of serious damage.

The epicenter was about 15 miles east of Ometepec, Guerrero, the USGS says, and its depth was about 11 miles. Tourists and residents said they felt the earthquake in the resort city of Acapulco.

The USGS earlier reported the magnitude of the quake at 7.9.

Here now but no effects. I believe this same week last year was the Japanese quake and PV had the tusami warning which was nothing. The bay protects.

My wife and I very much so felt it. 17th floor of the Peninsula Condos were swaying. A number of people took the stairs to main floor. Those by the pool had no idea anything was going on.

Here in Chaplala we even felt it, some of us. My son felt it but I saw it my chandeliers swaying and my pool turned into a wave pool...no damage but it certainly was a shaker....I have felt worse....years ago, must have been closer when it caused an emptying of our pool like a tsunamie in pool...

I hear all is okay in Acapulco.....
