Airport taxi to Rincon de Guayabitos

We will be taking our first trip to PV and the area in July. We are spending our first few days in Rincon de Guayabitos, before spending a week in PV, so would like to know the airport taxi cost to that area. I've already check into a private service and would like to know how they compare. We are not interested in a bus for that distance, but might use to return to PV. Really looking forward to exploring a new area in Mexico.

It was 800 pesos before the price increase. Try the Rincon or La Pinata forum, people (tavi) will come and get you for same price..

Agree with J&W on that as not that many people take an airport taxi up there. Also, with the increase in fares recently (Feb 1), there is no Zone Chart for up that far into Nayarit.

We are staying in Rincon de Guayabitos for a few nights in December but it's easier, as we're already in town and don't have to take an airport taxi. We always take the bus (the Pacifico that goes up the highway ---- luggage room and all that).

Do ask carico (the DE on the Rincon de Guayabitos Tripadvisor forum) ---- he could head you in the right direction. Also, if your luggage isn't too heavy, you could walk across the pedestrian bridge and get a regular city taxi. Not all of them want to go that far though.

It's a beautiful place. We've been there on day trips and decided to stay for awhile.

Enjoy.

First, here is a link with some good info on northern towns. Just click on Getting there link. I would guess an airport taxi to be in the 1500 peso range, and across the street more like 1000 pesos each way.

I also wouldn´t rule out the bus. Pacifico to La Peñita now has a luxe line just like the other luxury long-distance buses. You wait in the VIP lounge, just as if you were waiting for an ETN or other inter-city bus. Also, Gilberto Hernandez comes highly recommended. He even drops people off inside the gates at Punta Mita, but he is from Rincon de Guayabitos. His prices sound very competitive.

Whatever you do, don´t go across the street and go all that way in those little Tsuru taxis unless you are a midget.

Have fun.

We take those luxury buses up to the northern villages and it was 138 pesos to La Peñita about 15 months ago. It's a main stop for the luxury buses from the main bus terminal. They only usually make one other stop on the way, in Mezcales.

Leaves from the Central Camionera. So comfy. Restrooms. Luggage storage and handling. Great scenery, etc. Done it a number of times (same bus that goes to Guadalajara).

If price is an object, you could take a taxi to the bus station. However, we don't know how many people "we" is, and even the luxury buses drop you off on the highway, so that is a consideration also. Adding up the taxi to the bus station, the per person bus fee and having to catch another cab on the highway may make the total cost fairly even. Not having to transfer (taxi, bus, taxi) is also a consideration.

Please report back when you do this as it would help others.

Thanks all for the replies. I have contacted Gilberto and he is 1200 pesos. Since we don't really want to do the bus option for our first time, we will probably use him. He sounds wonderful and I assume he will also come with great info about the area. We (husband and I) are getting excited to see a new area.

Would welcome any and all must see things, restaurants, advice etc. for RDG and PV.

Thanks again!

Things to do in PV: stroll The Malecon, watch sunset sitting on the pier at Playa Los Muertos, see some music and dance shows around town, print out the maps at www.vallartainfo.com and take a walking tour of Centro and Zona Romantica, check out the art galleries and live theater, do a food tour or cooking class. Pick up hard copies of The Mirror and The Tribune, two english-language weekly newspapers with calendar sections for events you might be interested in attending (local festivals, charity fundraisers, etc.).

Jay --- Totally understand why you wouldn't want to do the bus, to get there, the first time. But, do try some of the buses (the Pacifico on the highway) to explore.

We've been going to the northern villages (up to San Blas) over the last 20 years and have gotten used to the various buses (the regular Compostela bus, the first-class Pacifico that serves all villages up north and the luxury buses that are generally an express --- only stopping in La Peñita, in all our travels).

The bus you might want ---- if you want to explore someplace like Chacala a little north or San Pancho a little south (for examples) ---- is the Pacifico out on Hwy 200. Taxis between communities up there are expensive.

We're PV-people but are looking forward to spending a few days in Rincon de Guayabitos ourselves. Day trips up there are not enough. The bay is beautiful and the people are so friendly.

Thanks Marly, we're familiar with the buses in the other places of Mexico that we've visited, and we love them. We only have three quick days in Rincon de Guayabitos, so I just want to get there as fast as possible and take those days to explore the towns of Jaltemba Bay. We are meeting friends when we go back to PV for a week and then plan to rent a car for other exploring.

These are different buses (believe me, I've taken buses in various places in Mexico too) ---- but, yes, you don't have time to explore the coast from R de G in 3 days. And definitely no time to take the buses from the airport.

We're staying longer soon, so will probably explore some village we haven't spent much time in.

Have fun there and in Puerto Vallarta. You will never run out of things to do, see, eat, experience. That's why some of us come back so often.
